New Beginnings

Last month Lynn dropped a bombshell; she would be retiring from The Candies at the end of September.  It’s true that we’ve had a whirlwind year, starting with our fabulous three days at the Barcelona Yacht show.  We’ve been wowing audiences across France and our music is universally loved across nationalities and generations.  August was crazy; we were approached by an agent who wanted to represent us and we were offered the chance to audition for a gig that would lead to perhaps 30+ bookings a year!  Lynn felt that as life was about to change for The Candies, it was right time for her to hang up her microphone and step out of the spotlight.

So our search began to find a replacement.  We needed not only a great, strong singer, but someone who could sing close harmonies, learn an entire set in 6 months, and be happy to travel wherever the bookings take us.  Lady luck handed us Lora!

Lora trained at The Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts.  At 17 she secured a job as a dancer in The Spirit of The Dance  and following this was offered a recording contract and went on to record a euro pop album (which took her to lots of weird and wonderful places around the UK and Europe.  She played on the main stage at Brighton Pride to over 20,000 people and also appeared on The Big Breakfast and Night Fever hosted by Suggs.

Following this she continued to work as a performer, as a singer, dancer and choreographer. She worked for QDOS Pantomimes for 4 consecutive years starring opposite Ben Richards (Footballers Wives), Sam Kane (Brookside), The Krankess, Cannon and Ball, John Challiss and Biggins. As a dancer Lora majored in Flamenco and spent many month studying in Andalucia and in London training with some of the World’s best teachers.

The future is looking bright for The Candies…Watch this space… Our first gigs are already in place for January 2018, our diary is starting to fill and The Candies are very very excited about what happens next!
