A great deal of our bookings are for weddings. We have a brilliant dance party cabaret packed full of dance floor fillers and hits from the Motown and Disco era.
But we also have an amazing Champagne Set… which is perfect for an afternoon Vin d’honneur but equally great for an afternoon party or pre-dinner drinks entertainment.
We’ve been quiet for a few months over winter because we’ve been working hard in the studio on our new Champagne song list. We’ve added more great classic vintage harmony songs, which proved so hugely popular last year! We’ve also added a sprinkling of fabulous Motown hits. If you’re getting married this year, we have the perfect musical solution for you!

Vintage Days is a great weekend festival held in the Dordogne capital over a long weekend in September. As Perigueux is on our doorstep and we’re the perfect music for a Vintage weekend, it seemed only right that we should be there.
Sadly we already had another booking on the Saturday but we were free to go along and join in the fun on the Sunday. We were alloted a space outside the very popular Cafe de la Place in the Place du Marché au Bois… in the beautiful old town of Perigueux.
There were 1000’s of people wandering around town today… lots of cars, musicians and folks dressing up… and Cafe de la Place was full to bursting. We had planned to sing for just an hour but in the end it was so busy we decided to stay for three!
What a great day – we’re really looking forward to next year and we’ll try to stay free for the entire weekend!
The fabulous people at The Clubhouse at Etang Vallier, Brossac invited The Candies to open their season in March. As this is our first Candy season, we hadn’t really planned to start quite so early… but we also couldn’t refuse… so we went along and a great night was had by all.
We were invited back in August and another great evening was enjoyed… and then they invited us back again… to close their season.
It’s fair to say that we have acquired a bit of a fan club at Brossac so it was an offer that we simply couldn’t refuse. We set up as the sun was setting over the lake; it might be September but there is still a lot of heat in our French sun.
As evening progressed we sang for our supper… and Brossac didn’t dissappoint. Thank you everyone for all of your support and encouragement… and we look forward to a return visit in 2017.
Many moons ago we had a visit from a rather fabulous couple who came along to one of our rehearsals. They wanted to check us out because they were going to hold a rather special birthday party and they were looking for something a little different… and something that would be of the right era. Needless to say they loved what they heard and they booked us.
Move forward a few months and The Candies are back from a mini holiday and ready to party!
This was a 70th Birthday Party. There were around 40 guests and dinner was a very traditional affair… sausage rolls and cheese and pineapple on sticks… fish and chips… and some very lovely puddings!
And of course… There were Candies! Thank you to our wonderful hosts.. we had a truly wonderful evening!
Whilst The Candies play at lots and lots of weddings and parties, we also play at a number of restaurants and smaller summer events in our own corner of France.
This week we had two such events. The first was for a very lovely crowd of diners at a restaurant just outside of Ruffec and the second was for a fabulous little venue just outside Verteillac in the Dordogne.
It’s been very very hot all week so both get-ins were a struggle… but made much easier with ice cold cokes for three!
Singing whilst folks eat is very different than our full party set; we start slow and build the evening up… thankfully for us, folks love our music and by the end of the evenings we had them dancing, swaying and singing along with us!
Thanks to all involved for two very wonderful evenings.. and for our amazing suppers!!
Tonight we’re back at Etang Vallier Resort, providing music at The Clubhouse beside this very popular lake and holiday park.
When we arrived they told us that they were expecting a full house… as all the tables were booked. In reality many more folks arrived and more and more tables were installed beside the lake… we were told at the end of the night that perhaps 400 folks had turned up and danced the night away with us!
We installed ourselves in the corner of the deck, not too close to folks that were eating (although in the end all the tables were moved). We started gently with a few of our Vintage numbers before heading off into party territory.
It wasn’t long before the first couple hit the dance floor and as the evening progressed more and more folks joined them. The evening was rocking, so much so that we decided to not break our set, but to simply keep singing.
And sing we did… French, Spanish, Dutch, Belgian, British and Polish (at least) all danced and sang together to the fabulous, international music that Motown is.
The dance floor was beyond full! And we had the BEST time! We love our music and we love it when the audience does too! We’re back again next month and we hope to repeat the fun!
Today’s wedding had a musical theme running throughout the day. Catherine and Paul are both musicians and they wanted their wedding to be informal and joyous with a festival feel to the day.
They booked both REPLAY and The Candies and rather than have a Champagne Set and a Party Set there was simply music throughout the day. And when we weren’t playing other talented folks were!
Today is known as Black Saturday in France… for no other reason than it seems like the whole country takes a holiday and the roads can be very very busy. So, with that in mind we all made sure we left in plenty of time to make the journey across the Charente, to a pretty village just the other side of Mirambeau.
The venue was the family home and it had been decorated and pampered and looked fabulous… and as it got darker 1000’s of twinkling lights came on so that the garden became a little fairy grotto!
This really was a beautiful day. The ceremony, the catering, the guests and the music were all about joy and love… and we drove home happy to have been included in this very wonderful day.
p.s. we can’t finish without saying Freya, you may only be 16 but you are a powerhouse of talent… Amazing singer/song writer and we wish you a long and fabulous career in music… and maybe one day we’ll be able to say… we shared a stage with you!
